Entrepreneur Tutoring App
Fount is a mobile and responsive web app designed to tutor adults in entrepreneurship — turning a lonely, overwhelming journey into daily, guided progress.
The problem
Aspiring entrepreneurs know what they want to build. They rarely know how to get there.
A short film. A clothing brand. A wellness practice. Every entrepreneur I talked to had the passion and the vision — what they lacked was a playbook. They felt isolated, doubted themselves, and had no single source of truth to turn a creative idea into a real business. Existing resources were scattered across forums, YouTube videos, and one-off mentor calls, never adding up to a clear next step.
The opportunity
An app that frames, unlocks, and organizes creative passion
Our goal statement: an entrepreneur tutoring app that lets users frame, unlock, and organize their creative passions — for adults who need resources to advance their business endeavors — by providing the infrastructure to support their growth, measured through quantitative tracking of user progress over time.
The research
Meet the entrepreneurs
I built personas and empathy maps around four real aspiring entrepreneurs, each stuck at a different stage of the same journey.
Lauren
Aspiring short film maker. A full-time marketing director who feels someone else could always do it better.
Geena
High fashion clothing designer, looking for effective strategies to scale her brand.
Shawn
Touring manager for musicians, exploring how to turn industry experience into his own venture.
Tre
Wellness professional, looking to formalize his practice into a sustainable business.
The process
From empathy research to a shipped prototype
Research
Built personas, empathy maps, problem statements, and "How Might We" questions for four aspiring entrepreneurs to find the shared need beneath four different businesses.
Paper Wireframes
Sketched a mobile-first framework by hand — homepage, learning paths, an on-demand "panic button," live chat — to move fast before touching a screen.
Digital Wireframes
Translated sketches into eleven low-fidelity screens and a full user flow — homepage, carousel, PLP, panic button, search, live chat, account details, and more.
Hi-Fi Prototype
Designed the full visual language and wired every screen into one clickable Figma prototype, from splash page to live mentor chat.
Usability Testing
Ran lo-fi usability sessions and triaged findings by priority — color contrast, a nav menu that didn't collapse, an off-center panic button — before touching hi-fi.
Iterate
Fixed every P0 from testing: added a drop-shadow heading and color to the progress tracker, made nav buttons more accessible, and centered the panic button.
Selected moments
A closer look
A warm first impression
Fount opens with "Let's change the world" — setting an encouraging, human tone before a single form field asks for anything.
A curated learning path
Planning, Execution, and Results are laid out as three clear stages, each grounded in a real photo rather than an abstract icon — so the path never feels theoretical.
Help, the moment you need it
The on-demand "Panic Button" opens a guided breathing exercise, a food and hydration check-in, and a reminder of the user's own "why" — treating entrepreneurial burnout as a real, designable problem.
Point users to exactly what they need
A single search bar — "I need help with" — routes into Resources, Tech, and Organization, so a user never has to know the right category before they start typing.
Impact
Designing an app specifically catered to a user's emotional state with something as tumultuous as entrepreneurialism — while offering support and resources — is the literal recipe for maximizing output, closing the gap between the beginner and the seasoned veteran.
What I learned
Throughout this process, I learned the importance of really diving into the details of users' pain points. Exploring the psyche of the person you're designing for — not just their goals, but their doubts — yields the best results possible.
